While there has been no official statement from Google, speculations about the reason have been ranging from an attempt to ban “cheap” domain registrations (the .info registry is known to run promotions) to a mere technical glitch.

The highest sale went to Daycare.org at $16,500. No other names broke the 5 figure barrier. This is a fairly new format that Moniker started  at the previous TRAFFIC conference in Las Vegas. The event features only a small handful of domains with no reserve prices or very low reserve prices. The last time Moniker tried this format, the list was a bit longer at 80 domains and they sold around $190,000 worth. The results of tonights auction can be seen after the jump.

By Ara Zusky, Key Domain Parking Account Manager

Domain Roundtable 2008 was an all-around successful event for Sedo. The conference was attended by the domain industry’s best and brightest and the Sedo team was right there in the thick of it. The various panels held throughout Saturday and Sunday offered intriguing insights into the future of the domain industry and featured two of Sedo’s own. Jeremiah Johnston, Sedo’s COO, spoke on behalf of CEO Tim Schumacher on the CEO Roundtable panel, discussing the current overall trends in the industry as well as the relationship between the current state of the U.S. economy and the domain market. Later, Jay Finnan, Sedo’s Portfolio Sales Manager, led a discussion on Advanced Domain Valuation and Portfolio Management panels. Jay shared his perspective on how domainers should best manage their portfolios and capitalize on current market opportunities.

To cap off the whole event, Sedo was honored with two NameIntelligence awards: Best Parking Company and Outstanding Secondary Marketplace. These awards reflect Sedo’s commitment to maintaining the highest quality products and services in the domain industry. Overall, Domain Roundtable San Francisco was a fantastic event—we are already looking forward to the next one!
